Many prominent and well famed authors round the globe may find it very hard to gauge the performance of their new written works given that the success is often driven by their previous experiences in the industry. In these circumstances it becomes very common for renowned authors like J.K Rowling herself to write under the secret name. Most of the time, these authors find it very hard to keep their works secret. One way or another their secret identity is revealed at some point in time.
J.K Rowling wrote a crime novel named ''The Cuckoo's Calling'' under a pseudonym, she used the secret identity of Robert Galbraith to write the novel. J.K intended to reveal her identity anyways but according to her, she wanted the liberating experience to continue for sometime. its only natural that she is angry with the Legal firm Russels for leaking her identity.
Rumor had it that this event was just part of publicity campaign but Russels had made it clear that it was not, furthermore it stated that no one at Russels, Rowling or her agent were involved in any marketing plan whatsoever. Nonetheless one has to admit that all this did help boost sales for the novel, previously 1,500 copies had been sold to public but as fast as the news got ignited novel's place raised more then 5,000 place within hours at Amazon's sales list.
The experience of writing under a different and unknown name has been too good according to Rowling. First copies that were sold and were signed as Robert Galbraith by Rowling can earn allot of money for these first Fortunate Buyers, Keeping in view that these copies have a bid of over $1000 on eBay dose look promising to me. The cuckoo's Calling is currently at number 1 place on amazon.com.
