Kiefer sutherland, Riz Ahmad

There are very few movies that are perfect in every sense, everything seems to be carried out in a best way possible. Reluctant Fundamentalist is one such movie with exceptional direction, acting, cinematography and most of all the music. The movie is based on the novel with same title by Mohsin Hamid. Director Mira Nair has made a brilliant piece of art as always, it's almost is a thriller having notion of suspense. The movie bolts up int its plot to a climax in huge flashes, exceptional moments brought together along with that music in zeal of expertise by Nair.

The story revolves around the life turning story of a young Changez, who is trying to deal with realities of life. Carrying out a rational dialogue with the Journalist named bobby Lincoln who is currently writing an article on the kidnapping of an american professor teaching in the same university as Changez. The story is told in flashes throughout the film, starting with changez winning a scholarship to Princeton followed by his interview at Underwood with his latter to be Mentor Jim Cross played by kiefer Sutherland. Changez manages to impress Jim with his confidence and on spot conversation. while in American Changez falls for a young artistic photographer Erica played quite well by Kate Hudson.

The main turning point in the story as well as Changez's life, 9/11 occurs and changez as a result of post scenario starts questioning his ideals. even with his capitalist credentials and his love for america, he is forced into isolation, in his own words as 9/11 made Americans more american they made him more Pakistani. Event after an event leads to the Changez leaving his job and coming back to Pakistan where he starts teaching at a university.
